For the attention of Master’s students wishing to pursue a PhD in the United States, here are details about how to apply for a funded (full-time Graduate Assistantship Appointments) Ph.D. in Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida.

Rosen College of Hospitality Management (RCHM) at the University of Central Florida, located in Orlando, Florida, invites applications for its Ph.D. in Hospitality Management for Fall 2016.

The editorial home of the International Journal of Hospitality ManagementInternational Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and Journal of Destination Marketing & Management, RCHM is one of the leading colleges of its kind in the world with over 60 world-renowned faculty from over 17 countries. The College also hosts Elsevier’s World Research Summit for Tourism & Hospitality, houses the Dick Pope Sr. Institute for Tourism Research, is ideally located near major hospitality and tourism industry employers, and has excellent educational and research links with many international partners.

Applicants offered admission into the Ph.D. program will simultaneously be offered full-time Graduate Assistantship Appointments.  The Assistantship provides a stipend each semester, and pays tuition fees and medical insurance. A Dean’s Fellowship is also available annually on a competitive basis with eligibility conditional on first being awarded a qualifying assistantship or fellowship by UCF.  The Dean’s Fellowship increases a yearly stipend by $4,000 to aid in the recruitment and retention of top students and is awarded for 4 years to students in good academic standing. The Ph.D. Program has two years of full-time course work prior to completing formal work on a thesis/dissertation.  As such, admission into the program is not predicated upon prior selection of an advisor/supervisor or the advance identification of a research stream of interest.

If you decide to apply, our Graduate Admissions Committee will review your entire application in making an admissions decision.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated:

·academic proficiency in business and/or hospitality curricula;

·have a competitive GRE or GMAT score;

·have a TOEFL test score (7.0+) if English is not your first language;

·have industry-related experience, preferably at managerial/executive levels.

Although the plan of study is relatively flexible, the courses are interactive and face-to-face in design.  Day and time-of-day will vary by course and semester, with both afternoon and evening schedules.
